New build with solar
Solar for new builds

New build with solar: lower energy costs from day one.

In a new build, the PV system is not a retrofit but part of the building design. We align photovoltaics and battery storage with the structure, roof build-up and building services at an early stage. This saves time and money and avoids later work on the roof and disruption to your operations.

Our recommendation

In many projects, battery storage is a sensible addition to the PV system.

That is why we recommend combining photovoltaics and battery storage from the outset. You use your solar power when your operations need it, and your new building runs more cost-effectively from day one.

A PV system generates electricity when the sun is shining, not necessarily when your building needs it. Without storage, the surplus is fed into the grid for a low tariff. At other times, you have to buy electricity from the grid at the regular price.

PV

Generates electricity during the day, depending on the weather.

+

Battery storage

Provides the stored electricity when your business needs it.

=

Higher self-consumption, lower electricity costs

Higher self-consumption

A larger share of the electricity generated is used directly in the building instead of being fed into the grid.

More independent of the grid

Storage bridges periods without generation and noticeably reduces grid consumption.

Prepared in the new build

Cable routes and plant space for the storage system are planned in from the start.

Why plan it in now

4 reasons for solar in a new build

1

PV from day one

The system goes into operation together with the building. You benefit from lower electricity costs as soon as you move in.

2

No compromises on structure

Module, wind and snow loads are factored directly into the structural design. The roof is designed for the system, not the other way round.

3

One point of contact

Planning, grid connection, installation, storage integration and commissioning are handled through one central point of contact.

4

Maximum roof area

Roof shape, orientation and rooftop installations are planned early so that as much area as possible remains usable for solar yield.

Solar requirements

Solar requirements for new commercial buildings: what applies to your project?

More and more countries and regions require photovoltaics on new non-residential buildings. Which share of the roof must be covered and which exceptions apply depends on the national and regional rules at your site.

We check which requirements apply at your location. We design the system so that it meets them and pays off at the same time. If you plan for more than the minimum, you reduce your energy costs further.

Requirements differ by country and region and may change. The rules currently in force are decisive.

Built together

Roof and PV system are built together

  • Roof build-up, waterproofing and fixing points are defined together with the PV design.
  • No subsequent roof penetrations: the mounting points are in the right place from the start.
  • One schedule: the PV system is built in the same construction sequence as the roof.
  • If required, combined with a green roof or with solar carports on your parking areas.

How your project works

Five steps to a PV system in your new build

1

Initial consultation and potential analysis

We clarify roof area, orientation, consumption profile and local requirements, in other words what is possible and sensible at your site.

2

System design and economics

We define the size of the PV system and storage and prepare a yield forecast and payback calculation, transparent and easy to follow.

3

Coordination with the building design

We coordinate loads, fixings, cable routes and the plant room directly with the architects and structural engineers.

4

Grid connection and installation

We register the system with the grid operator and install it in line with the construction schedule of your new build.

5

Commissioning and operation

You receive a turnkey handover. If required, we then take care of maintenance and operation over the entire service life.

Turnkey

We hand over a running system

  • We take care of commissioning, meter installation and registration with the grid operator for you.
  • PV and storage are tuned to each other for the highest possible self-consumption.
  • If required, we monitor and operate the system over its entire service life.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions about PV in new builds

The key answers on planning, costs and implementation at a glance:

As early as possible, ideally during the concept or structural design phase. Structure, roof build-up, cable routes and plant space for PV and storage can then be planned in without compromise. The earlier we are involved, the higher the yield and the better the economics in the end.

In most cases, yes. To make the PV system as cost-effective as possible for your business, we recommend combining it with battery storage in a new build. Storage shifts the solar power generated during the day into the evening and night and significantly increases self-consumption. This is particularly cost-effective in a new build because plant space and cable routes are provided for from the start.

Costs depend on system size, roof build-up and storage. A new build avoids work that a retrofit requires, such as additional roof penetrations or modifications to the electrical installation. You receive the detailed economic calculation in the initial consultation.

Yes. Our engineers verify the additional loads for your structure and design the system to fit. We also take care of commissioning, meter installation and registration with the grid operator. You receive a finished, running system.

Yes. A green roof with solar combines rainwater retention and cooling with solar yield. Solar carports additionally turn your parking areas into a source of electricity, for example for charging points and your fleet. In a new build, we plan all areas together.

That is exactly the right time. In an initial meeting, we clarify orientation, roof area, consumption profile and the sensible size of PV and storage, specific and without obligation. This way, the PV system flows directly into your building design.
